Optical fibers, often in loose tubes, are then inserted into these microducts. A specialized air-blowing machine injects compressed air into the duct, creating a cushion of air that propels the fibers forward while minimizing contact with the duct walls .Friction Reduction and MaterialsReducing friction between the cable and duct is critical for efficient installation. Early methods used liquid lubricants, but uneven distribution and displacement by the moving cable limited effectiveness .
